China enforces user tracking… scary

Once in a while some news passes by that forces one to think about the future. Today, I saw one of these articles over at the New York Times entitled “China Enacting a High-Tech Plan to Track People“.

Eventually, it all burns down that in Shenzhen at least 20000 police surveillance cameras are being installed that automatically recognizes the faces of suspects and detects unusual activities. While, “fighting the crime” and spreading fear among people, always gets any surveillance approved (Hello Mr. Bush) there is another side to the story revealed.

As stated in the article a residency card is being distributed to most citizen baring not only their address and name, but a lot more information about the card holder.

Me thinks, this is just another example of having even more control over the people in the name of crime and war. Anyhow, make up your own mind and be aware of what is going on in the world!
