Razuna 1.1.2 available – Open Source Digital Asset Management
We are very happy to release today on 4th of November Razuna in its latest Version 1.1.2. We are very exited about this release, since it not only brings a lot of improvements but also three new useful features. So, without further ado let me introduce you to these new features (we have also made a video outlining the new features, please find it at the bottom of this post);
Custom Fields
Custom Fields has been high in all the requests and now available. With custom fields you are no longer restricted to only keywords and descriptions (for videos and documents) or the available XMP/IPTC/EXIF fields (for images) but can now include any custom meta-data to each asset as you want.
You have the option to define Text fields, Texarea’s or Radio-Buttons (we add more if we get requests for that). You can also set where you want to add the custom field. Say, you only need a field for documents, then just define it for these kind of assets, the same goes for videos and images.
We think this is a fine feature which will give you added support for managing those DAM assets!
Flash Media Player
Previously we loaded all videos within the Quicktime Movie player. With release 1.1.2 we have opted for a Flash Media Player for all your videos. This will make it much easier to watch videos in full screen or scale to the available bandwidth. Also, all videos will now be converted with the H.264 and AAC codec, for bringing you the best results in video conversion.
Razuna UpDrive
Razuna UpDrive is a new technology based on Gears. With UpDrive enabled most used files will be loaded into your local cache and thus the browser will not need to re-download them every time you use Razuna. Once you have UpDrive enabled you will see a much faster DAM experience. Again, improving your workflow with your assets.
Improvements
With version 1.1.2 of Razuna we also made some improvements and fixed some bugs.
We have moved the location of the embedded database to the Razuna folder itself, thus there shouldn’t be any problems anymore with permissions issues when doing a installation on a NTFS or Linux system. Also, we improved Razuna to work better with IE, thought IE 8 behaves much better then IE 7. In any regard we recommend to use Firefox when you work with Razuna.
As always you can get the latest Version directly from Razuna.com. Customers who already have Razuna deployed will get a notification within the system of the new version.
