06.30.08Mac OS X 10.5.4 update arrivedOnly one month ago, Apple released 10.5.3 and now we are getting 10.5.4. I guess this is the shortest Update release for Apple ever. The release note for 10.5.4 can be found here and you get the Update best trough the built in Software Update. Looks like they made some major improvements for Spaces.

05.29.08MacOS X 10.5.3 is hereApple finally released MacOS X 10.5.3 today. The update comes in at just around 200 MB and is available trough Software Update. The release notes show a lot of changes. Let's see if this update resolves a lot of hanging that a lot of people reported.

04.11.08Apple EFI Fireware update fixed my screen issueIn a recent blog post of mine I said that since 10.5.2 update and the graphic update my external Apple Cinema Display is not working anymore. Yesterday evening I applied the just released "Apple EFI Firmware update" and now this morning my MacBook Pro is working flawlessly with my external screen again! I don't know what Apple has done or if the firmware is the cause, but it is now working 100% even after rebooting the MacBook. As always Apple does not state much what the Firmware has changed, but I am sure happy they finally fixed it.

02.26.08Apple’s Keynote also does numbersNow, this got to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. The other day, I was preparing a presentation with Apple's Keynote and was doing what one of these tables with numbers and figures (you know the ones that investors need :-) ). Since it was a presentation I thought about entering each number and calculation on it's own, but then I just entered a "=" and I saw that I get a Formula-Editor. 02.20.08Finally, Apple releases fix for Keyboard IssuesToday, Apple released a "Keyboard Firmware 1.0" which will fix (according to the description): "This MacBook and MacBook Pro firmware update addresses an issue where the first key press may be ignored if the computer has been sitting idle. It also addresses some other issues." This has driven me nuts. Thank you Apple for a fix that should not have been there :-)

02.19.08MacOS X 10.5.2 Graphics Update and external monitor issuesSince installing the Graphics Update on our MacBookPro (right after you install 10.5.2 you get prompted to install the graphics update) we have had problems with our external monitor (Cinema Display). Such as that the MacBookPro does not start correctly (kernel panic) or when it starts it does not see the external monitor. Looking over at the Apple Discussion Boards on this thread and this thread we see that this is a common problem after applying the Graphics Update. 02.04.08Custom 404 pages with ColdFusion 8, MacOS X and the difference with IISFor one of the projects we are working on (news will be revealed very soon) we will need to redirect a clean URL like "http://www.mydomain.com/mybox" to a certain record. Of course, our first thought was that it is easy to create a custom 404 page, add this to the web server configuration, get the query_string and do some stuff with it. Easy right? Well, in our findings we see that Apache 2.2.6 gives us a empty query_string, where as IIS on Windows Server 2003 returns a nicely formated query_string in the form of "404;http://www.mydomain.com:80/mybox". 02.04.08Create custom Keynote ‘08 themeWe have been playing around with Apple's Keynote '08 some more and I have to say that it looks and feels much better then Powerpoint. Anyhow, then thing that most people need and want to do is to create their own themes. Not that the supplied themes are bad, actually they are quite good, but nobody wants to give a presentation and they all look the same, do we?
