03.18.08WebDeveloper Toolbar 1.1.5 availableIn a recent post I said that one of my "must have" extensions, the WebDeveloper Toolbar, is not available for FireFox 3 and thus makes testing the FireFox 3 browser a less pleasant expirience. Well, this all changed today when WebDeveloper 1.1.5 turned up. Thank you, I can now finally start testing FireFox 3.

03.11.08FireFox 3 Beta 4 looks nice on MacOS XWe just took a look at the latest Firefox 3 Beta 4 release and I have to say that I like the new MacOS X look a lot. It looks very clean and invites one to browse with ease. Admitted, they took the normal look and feel from the MacOS X theme, but now Firefox "feels" more like a MacOS X application then simply a Windows port. We have not played with it a lot, mainly because two of our "must-have" plug-ins, Web Developer and Firebug, are not compatible. Thus we can't really say much, but pages are loading real fast ...

03.11.08Office 2008 Update availableMicrosoft released today the "Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update". The Release Notes states; "The Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update contains several changes that improve security, stability, and performance. These changes include fixes for users of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and include fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of a computer's memory by using malicious code." 03.05.08Some problems with sending mail with WordpressWe wondered since a couple of days, why we are not receiving any emails anymore from our blog here. Usually we receive a couple of comments a days and thus it was strange that nothing came in. Looking at the php.ini I saw that everything was setup correctly, but still mails did not get sent. Looking further we tried to configure sendmail and set the "smart_host" value. This is done by entering the correct SMTP-Server in the sendmail.mc file and using "make -C /etc/mail" to compile it (Note: remove the "dln" BEFORE the line. "dln" is a comment tag!). The other day, I was preparing a presentation with Apple's Keynote and was doing what one of these tables with numbers and figures (you know the ones that investors need :-) ). 02.09.08Moving Wordpress installation from Windows Server 2003 to LinuxWe just finished moving our blog (the one you are reading now) from Windows Server 2003 to CentOS 5. The switch included a couple of steps, but was rather easy: Install CentOS with Apache, PHP and MySQL. CentOS does install Apache 2.2.3, PHP 5.1.6 and MySQL 5.0.22 by default. Make sure to "yum update" to get the latest stable packages. Make a backup of all your Wordpress database on the original server. To do this we used the excellent "wp-db-backup". 02.04.08Create custom Keynote ‘08 themeWe have been playing around with Apple's Keynote '08 some more and I have to say that it looks and feels much better then Powerpoint. Anyhow, then thing that most people need and want to do is to create their own themes. Not that the supplied themes are bad, actually they are quite good, but nobody wants to give a presentation and they all look the same, do we?
