  Regarding my earlier post of today I just found out that Google's recent investment in 23andme, a service which will analyze people’s DNA, means that they may have access to people’s genetic makeup in the future. And that includes genetic flaws that might signal future health risks for them and their offspring. Google knowing what web searches we do today, or who we send emails to, is nothing compared with what may come in the future. This should get you thinking..........

  Sony has developed a new protoype OLED display that is extremely thin, flexible, and capable of displaying a full 16.7 million colors (eight bits per channel). The display is 2.5" (6cm) across, a mere 0.01" (0.3mm) thick, and it has a resolution of 120x160, which works out to pixel density of 80 pixels per inch—the world's highest definition, according to Sony. To make the display bendable, Sony combined organic LED (OLED) and organic thin film transistor (TFT) technologies.

  Oracle chooses FCKEditor for Application Express Applications, Business, Oracle | (0)

  Good news for the developers over at FCKEditor. Oracle has chosen their brilliant WYSIWYG-Editor for their latest release of Application Express. We are using FCKEditor all over in our system and think it is the best editor out there. Integrates nicely and works very well. Now all that there is to add is some Safari and better Opera support :-)

  Microsoft Vista will limit client license (time for a change?) Applications, Business | (0)

  I just read that Microsoft witll limit the transfer of Vista from a Windows XP unlimited time to a one timer. Actually the correct wording is: "When Windows Vista is available, consumers will be able to transfer the OS license they purchase to only one machine other than the one for which they originally buy Vista".   Google Buys Photo Recognition Firm Applications, Business | (0)

  Google on Tuesday announced it had acquired Neven Vision, a company that develops photo recognition software which is currently used in mobile phones, along with biometric applications by the U.S. government and law enforcement. Neven Vision holds 15 patents related to image analysis and facial recognition. Google plans to use the technology to improve Picasa, its free photo organization application. The program will eventually be able to automatically identify individuals and places in pictures, which will make searching far easier.
