09.30.07The Oracle Database Order by syntax is case sensitiveWe just came across a issue that took one of our developers a longer time to figure out and is regarding the "order by" syntax in use with a Oracle Database 10g R2. When using a: SELECT myname FROM mydb ORDER BY myname and you have different cases in the "myname" field (Example: Oracle, oranges, adventure, Business) then the above query would give you a result that would look like this: Business Oracle adventure oranges As you can see the word "adventure" is at the "end" of all the values that are writing in upper case. 06.25.07SQL Developer hides the Query Builder quite wellYou are probably asking yourself, what Query Builder inside SQL Developer (Oracle's free tool to manage your databases (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.)) I am talking about. 06.08.07SQL Developer 1.2 features Migration WorkbenchOur favorite database vendor, Oracle released the other day the new Version of SQL Developer. With it you are not only able to manage your Oracle database (of course) but also work against a MS SQL or a MySQL database. This all for free. Now, Oracle just added an advanced Migration Workbench to it as well. With the Migration Workbench you can migrate over any Access, MS SQL or MySQL database to an Oracle database the easy way. 04.12.07A way to drop many tables with OracleThere are some things in Oracle that seam to be odd when you come from another SQL database. One of these "odd" commands is that there is no automatic incrementation within the SQL syntax.
