03.11.08Office 2008 Update availableMicrosoft released today the "Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update". The Release Notes states; "The Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update contains several changes that improve security, stability, and performance. These changes include fixes for users of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, and include fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of a computer's memory by using malicious code." 02.19.08MacOS X 10.5.2 Graphics Update and external monitor issuesSince installing the Graphics Update on our MacBookPro (right after you install 10.5.2 you get prompted to install the graphics update) we have had problems with our external monitor (Cinema Display). Such as that the MacBookPro does not start correctly (kernel panic) or when it starts it does not see the external monitor. Looking over at the Apple Discussion Boards on this thread and this thread we see that this is a common problem after applying the Graphics Update. 02.04.08Custom 404 pages with ColdFusion 8, MacOS X and the difference with IISFor one of the projects we are working on (news will be revealed very soon) we will need to redirect a clean URL like "http://www.mydomain.com/mybox" to a certain record. Of course, our first thought was that it is easy to create a custom 404 page, add this to the web server configuration, get the query_string and do some stuff with it. Easy right? Well, in our findings we see that Apache 2.2.6 gives us a empty query_string, where as IIS on Windows Server 2003 returns a nicely formated query_string in the form of "404;http://www.mydomain.com:80/mybox". With this feature your contacts, calendar events and notes will sync with the same repository used by the System Address Book, iCal, and then iSync, iTunes and .Mac syncing.
